Genesis Owusu, the Ghanaian-Australian artist, proved to be far more than just an opening act at the Capital One Arena in Washington DC during Paramore's Arena tour. From the moment he stepped on stage, it was clear that Owusu was here to make a lasting impression.
As the lights went down, Owusu appeared on stage seemingly carried by a shroud of people, donning a dark cloak adorned with disembodied hands. The atmosphere was immediately set for an intense and dramatic performance. He kicked off his set with his newest single, "Leaving the Light," and it was instantly evident that the crowd was in for a treat.
Owusu's powerful voice, accompanied by an energetic dance beat, filled the arena, leaving the audience captivated. He flawlessly executed every note, never missing a beat, and impressively performed for a full thirty minutes without taking a single break.
As the first song came to an end, Owusu's backup dancers and his outfit were revealed, adding another layer of excitement to the performance. Sporting a bright red latex suit with a cropped top and fishnet detailing across his chest, his flamboyant attire matched his exuberant presence on stage. Whether he was alone or delivering slow jams, Owusu remained captivating, showcasing his charisma and undeniable talent as a consummate performer.
Throughout the set, Owusu treated the audience to a well-curated mix of new singles, unreleased tracks, and highlights from his debut album. His live renditions of "Don't Need You" and "Get Inspired" were particularly enjoyable, showcasing his versatility and ability to engage the crowd. In just thirty minutes, Owusu created a concert experience that left me longing for more.
With his sophomore album "STRUGGLER" set to release on August 18, the anticipation for what Owusu has in store continues to grow. If his singles and live shows are any indication, it's safe to say that he is destined for more awards and accolades in the future.
Overall, Genesis Owusu's performance at the Capital One Arena was a delightful and unforgettable experience. He proved himself as an artist who can command a stage, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this talented and charismatic musician.
